Creating a Pursuit

You can create a new unlinked pursuit or a new pursuit linked to an existing opportunity.

To create a new unlinked pursuit:

  1. Click the New button in the top right of the screen.
  2. Specify New Pursuit. The Create New Pursuit screen appears.

  3. Enter the data for the new pursuit. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

    You can search contact data for Target Company, Primary Contact name, and Lead Attorney name. In any of these fields, enter 3+ letters and click to search. Appropriate matches are displayed as cards at the bottom of the screen. To select the one for a field, click the button on the card.

  4. Save the new pursuit by clicking the Create button. The new pursuit opens in the Pursuit Overview screen with the data from the Create New Pursuit screen. You can now add additional data—pursuit title, priority, tasks, notes, etc.

 

To create a new pursuit linked to an existing opportunity:

  1. Open an existing opportunity to which you want to link a new pursuit. It will open in the Opportunity Overview screen.

  2. In the Associated Pursuit panel, click the button. The Create New Pursuit screen opens with the Target company prefilled.

    NOTE When an opportunity already is linked to a pursuit, the Associated Pursuit panel contains no Add New button. It has a View button to view the pursuit and an Unlink button.

  3. Enter the data appropriate for the pursuit. Required fields are indicated with *.

    In the Primary Contact and Lead Attorney fields on the Create New Pursuit screen, you can enter 3 or more characters in the field and click the Search button. The results from the search are shown on cards shown below the form. Individual contacts from the Target Company will appear first. To fill a field from a card, click the button at the bottom of the card.

  4. Click the Create button to save the pursuit. The new pursuit is created, linked to the opportunity (with the target company filled in, etc.), and you are returned to the active opportunity. You can access the new pursuit [and add/edit content for it] by clicking View from the Associated Pursuit panel.
